Kahawa Shamba Campsite is set on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro surrounded by coffee farms and green forests and with beautiful opportunities to see the summit. The campsite is open the whole year for overnight stays. We offer hot showers and decent toilets. There is a restaurant run by local women groups, which offers excellent meals. Kahawa Shamba (Swahili for coffee farm) is a tourism project that was started by the coffee producers together with KNCU (Kilimanjaro Native Cooperative Union). KNCU is a union made up of 60,000 small scale coffee farmers who are organized in 67 rural cooperative societies on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. The Union is certified by Fairtrade. Kahawa Shamba provides coffee farmers with additional income. All expenditures on tours, meals and overnight stays will remain in the local communities.
